She rides a new pony with delight

Small child seated on a small saddle

Eyes large and so bright

Hands hold on tight

Gladness simply radiates

One child’s intense enthusiasm on display

Transparent pleasure worn in true honesty

Only what a child can do;

Gift from heaven

Jewels shine in pure light in many ways,

Good-hearted laughter flows forth the same,

He causes more laughter;

Photos taken

Memories of the mind implanted for all time,

A parent, a mother glows

A parent, a father senses hidden tears

Love and sacrifice freely given

For all the efforts, struggles and trials

Weighed as little upon the balance,

Rich joy of commitment

Heavy branches hang with good fruit,

Seeds literally planted in love

Multiplied many times over.

One look into the young face

And the tender heart melts

Grandparents watch closely,

Emotions become as a warm liquid within.

About Gary Bertnick

I was a Minnesota teenager in the late 1960's. I was drafted into the military after an intense time at an engineering school. As a graduate chemical engineer and former athlete, I became a Marine Corps private. The Lord spoke to me through a friend while visiting Rapid City,S.D. My true discipleship began in Southern California and was boosted through association with Morris Cerullo Ministry and others. I fed upon the Scriptures and have learned to be led by the Holy Spirit. I know what the fear of the Lord is. What I write is done to honor the Lord and to touch the lives of those who know Him as well as those who should.

  1. Beautiful poem. In this busy world we forget children take time and attention. I tutored my 3 grandchildren through grammar school. We learned so much more than schoolwork during those times. I’ll cherish them.

  2. Thank you for sharing this. I enjoyed reading it very much. God has given you such a special talent to write.
