Hunger drives a nation, a tribe

Hunger drives a soul,

While thirst for truth seen by the world

As a weakness, a madness, mental illness at best;

Neighbors turn their eyes

Families shake their heads

Wonder outloud, try to understand

Why the sudden turn

Rejection of their world, its ways.

Why the obsession over an  old book

And constant prayers  lifted into the sky where UFO’s travel;

Words written so long ago by Jews

Approved by old men gathered

Assembled, edited by a Council of elders,

What life can it give!  What light?

But, the real treasure remains hidden in the mysterious field

The Spirit of God always ready to reveal

Each day, each step of the narrow road

Spirit of life always poised to reveal;

One bite of bread multiplied into to an eternal feast

Prized discovery unfolds more discovery that only grows

Knowledge within the greatest knowledge

Life matures into an even greater life.

And the righteous hunger grows

Desire for God, and discipline grow

Delight in God, delight in His word

Indescribable gifts of wisdom and knowledge,

The Spirit of Messiah breathes within

We see and hear, and know.

More and more as we walk this path

God of love rests in thoughts and prayers

In dreams and visions;

As we read each day, we feed even more

Heaven’s daily food,

Heaven’s Kingdom bread!

A child of God meets hatred with love,

The angry world confronts us

But sees only in our eyes, deep pools of mysterious peace,

And they become angrier.

About Gary Bertnick

I was a Minnesota teenager in the late 1960's. I was drafted into the military after an intense time at an engineering school. As a graduate chemical engineer and former athlete, I became a Marine Corps private. The Lord spoke to me through a friend while visiting Rapid City,S.D. My true discipleship began in Southern California and was boosted through association with Morris Cerullo Ministry and others. I fed upon the Scriptures and have learned to be led by the Holy Spirit. I know what the fear of the Lord is. What I write is done to honor the Lord and to touch the lives of those who know Him as well as those who should.
