Shock as he finally sees himself as he is,

After a long life worn down

A mind worn out

The lies of pride carried forcefully so long

As jewelry about the neck

Gemstones, precious metals, even platinum with diamonds,

All the beauty and wealth the world offers,

Held up so high.

Even the beauty of women loved, faded.

Reality crushes the spirit

Breaks the soul’s delusions into so many pieces

Into a fine dust blown away by a sudden chill wind.

His mind finally quiet,

His broken heart finally forced open,

His will finally humbled, bowed low.

Eyes lift toward the true mystery of Heaven above

Tears reach out with empty hands

And, at last a tiny, foolish seed drops into the mind,

Into the once dormant spirit;

“Reality is a Savior,

The Messiah who already came for you!”

A new blanketing comfort surrounds

Knowledge of His peace experienced

Truth begins to grow,

New life sprouts as true life is found

Seemingly at the very end

A new creation steps forward

Given to one who never knew how to receive.

About Gary Bertnick

I was a Minnesota teenager in the late 1960's. I was drafted into the military after an intense time at an engineering school. As a graduate chemical engineer and former athlete, I became a Marine Corps private. The Lord spoke to me through a friend while visiting Rapid City,S.D. My true discipleship began in Southern California and was boosted through association with Morris Cerullo Ministry and others. I fed upon the Scriptures and have learned to be led by the Holy Spirit. I know what the fear of the Lord is. What I write is done to honor the Lord and to touch the lives of those who know Him as well as those who should.
