A SIMPLE PEOPLE

A  SIMPLE  PEOPLE

They wait patiently, in the quiet of their souls,

Steadfast in love

Always persevere in every humble circumstance and task.

When the first call came to the ears of their hearts,

Broken people, crushed spirits,

Will suffocated, numbed

Nearly robbed of their youth,

They bowed quietly as a sudden knowledge of a Shepherd came upon them,

Even without any true grasp of Scripture,

Enclosed in new confident inner peace

Supernatural peace and freedom,

Release from a strong grip, a snare.

Known yet unknown

Childhood memories of the cross of Messiah a vague, distant story

Now, holy embrace of the unseen realm

The calls to heaven’s great banquet,

As purest angelic music to the soul.

They humbly took the lowest places

Selflessly seated, far apart

Yet, thrilled to belong at last

Found to be part of what was eternally true;

Joined to a mysterious life,

The mystical life in spiritual revelation,

Now seated somehow in the Holy Presence.

Beyond the wonders of all the earth

And the world that had failed them.

Then, this very day, a Voice is heard clearly

After so many years of their growth and contentment

Maturing, ripening on the vine,

“Come here my friends, to better seats, closer places”.

Joyfully they all rise as one in thanksgiving and move faithfully

To honor their King.

About Gary Bertnick

I was a Minnesota teenager in the late 1960's. I was drafted into the military after an intense time at an engineering school. As a graduate chemical engineer and former athlete, I became a Marine Corps private. The Lord spoke to me through a friend while visiting Rapid City,S.D. My true discipleship began in Southern California and was boosted through association with Morris Cerullo Ministry and others. I fed upon the Scriptures and have learned to be led by the Holy Spirit. I know what the fear of the Lord is. What I write is done to honor the Lord and to touch the lives of those who know Him as well as those who should.
