Our world of money,

Of greed and anxiety

Never what it seems to be

Laws of economics turned inside out

Always a way to buy and sell, or barter

A way found to give and take,

Twisted by so many, a way simply to control

To rise up above others, powerfully

A people, tribe, language or nations

Even the common currency of the “Mark of the Beast kingdom”.

Greed and competition as mother’s milk, as adrenalin for the soul,

The shrewd and cunning and bored play the game

Cover their lives with plenty,

But never, ever enough!

True peace with an unapproachable price

Love beyond the reach of mere human hands,

Even idols of silver and gold.

Only one selfless heart given to another

Both offered openly to the true Lord of all

Who made the one eternally priceless sacrifice,

Receives each living sacrifice with universal love

No earthly riches can buy;

God in heaven

Man and woman on earth, naked and vulnerable,

What material bridge can cross the impossible divide?

The spiritual chasm of death between heaven and earth?

What work, what prize can leap the divide

The demand of eternal perfection in God’s presence?

Nothing less, nothing more than the supernatural revelation

The most intimate divine touch upon a soul,

A human spirit awakened

A rebirth to truth and light

Friendship, fellowship with the Creator

Lost, buried so long ago.

For now money is used to buy a temporary answer

A satisfaction that fades with the beautiful sunset,

Same questions wait the next beautiful sunrise.

About Gary Bertnick

I was a Minnesota teenager in the late 1960's. I was drafted into the military after an intense time at an engineering school. As a graduate chemical engineer and former athlete, I became a Marine Corps private. The Lord spoke to me through a friend while visiting Rapid City,S.D. My true discipleship began in Southern California and was boosted through association with Morris Cerullo Ministry and others. I fed upon the Scriptures and have learned to be led by the Holy Spirit. I know what the fear of the Lord is. What I write is done to honor the Lord and to touch the lives of those who know Him as well as those who should.
