BE STILL

BE  STILL

With the noise of the world deafening at times,

Commercial madness,

A child-like heart yearns for quiet

The scent of fragrant peace upon a gentle ocean breeze,

When life is simple

Rising up, sitting down

Coming in, going out,

A confident steady walk as an expression of goodness

Always in the sight of our God who cares

Whose Spirit is ever near.

Each day’s pleasure can be discovered

Found in drawing near to the only true One,

Only Creator who births each new day

Causes the sun to rise with healing in a heart,

A person full of desire and longing and clear imagination

A soul who has found mindful rest in God’s riches,

Sold everything, bought that field of hidden treasure.

A disciple’s eyes and ears awakened, then sharpened

A spirit enlightened, empowered

And a divine gift of vast love to exercise great patience

Understanding of the forces of the world about

Its layers of perceived reality practiced

Piled upon each other in confusion;

In stillness this soul rests

Even visions of heaven’s feasts and celebrations

Dance joyfully in his head.

Meanwhile, America’s idea of repentance and enlightenment

Bounces back and forth like a volleyball

On a busy California summer beach.

About Gary Bertnick

I was a Minnesota teenager in the late 1960's. I was drafted into the military after an intense time at an engineering school. As a graduate chemical engineer and former athlete, I became a Marine Corps private. The Lord spoke to me through a friend while visiting Rapid City,S.D. My true discipleship began in Southern California and was boosted through association with Morris Cerullo Ministry and others. I fed upon the Scriptures and have learned to be led by the Holy Spirit. I know what the fear of the Lord is. What I write is done to honor the Lord and to touch the lives of those who know Him as well as those who should.
