BENEATH THE SHADE TREE

BENEATH  THE  SHADE  TREE

Beneath the branches of a large mulberry tree

In the heat of a summer day,

The shade comforts

A light breeze soothes,

Thoughts of the day stream through the mind

Thoughts of tomorrow,

Thoughts of eternity.

A renewed sense of being washes over

Of purpose in the sight of God

Words heard and read, words meditated,

Simply one servant, another honest truth seeker,

Gift of wisdom lavished abundantly.

It all comes down to worship

Living only in the Spirit of truth,

Divine praise inspired

Carried by most sensitive winds of honor

That flow through the soul

In a heart lifted higher

Given visions, dreams of what is to come;

While angels comfort the present stress,

Peace settles within, gift of Messiah from above

Confidence rests as the cool of the shade

Always offered, freely given

Steadfast assurance of each day’s reward

Whether boughs hang thick and heavy or not.

This man rejoices always

In what has been mercifully given

Everlasting life, knowledge of the Holy One

Pure wisdom of heaven’s sovereign presence

A mouth that can always sing praise

Songs that rise up in new life from within.

About Gary Bertnick

I was a Minnesota teenager in the late 1960's. I was drafted into the military after an intense time at an engineering school. As a graduate chemical engineer and former athlete, I became a Marine Corps private. The Lord spoke to me through a friend while visiting Rapid City,S.D. My true discipleship began in Southern California and was boosted through association with Morris Cerullo Ministry and others. I fed upon the Scriptures and have learned to be led by the Holy Spirit. I know what the fear of the Lord is. What I write is done to honor the Lord and to touch the lives of those who know Him as well as those who should.
