He sits alone again on a large rock along the shoreline

An endless sea spreads out

Thoughts wander

Wash through the mind just as the waves wash the shore,

Rhythmic, yet each unique;

Old friends who no longer bother to answer notes or emails sent,

Lives seemingly scattered to the winds.

Rich times in youth shared

Days of true character building

Of discovering divine truth and righteousness

The ancient Scriptures as a common pleasure

Hand of the Lord clearly, easily seen in coming and going,

“Rising up and sitting down”,

The treasure of early worship in Spirit and in truth,

Songs and prayers, many powerful things seen and heard together,

Wonderful things, heavenly things.

Many years have gone by, many miles traveled

Families grown as experiences created separation

Friendship mostly lost.

But the hand of the Shepherd remains tightly clasped

Even when feet stumbled, a fall possible

Health issues, money issues roared in the ears,

He remains a “friend closer than a brother”,

Truest Friend, all in all

The only One who unites us,

Joins us together in communion of His love.

A timeless reunion of all those loved remains a future joy

Those near, those far away

Young and old, recent and new

Those felt close, those always a little distant.

Love knows no boundaries

Neither time nor circumstances

Wealth or poverty,

Even in a sea of need, an ocean of love washes over

Gentle, kind waves lap the shores of my experience

Steady, faithful waves driven by a heavenly wind

Always a holy breath of loving kindness upon my existence.

About Gary Bertnick

I was a Minnesota teenager in the late 1960's. I was drafted into the military after an intense time at an engineering school. As a graduate chemical engineer and former athlete, I became a Marine Corps private. The Lord spoke to me through a friend while visiting Rapid City,S.D. My true discipleship began in Southern California and was boosted through association with Morris Cerullo Ministry and others. I fed upon the Scriptures and have learned to be led by the Holy Spirit. I know what the fear of the Lord is. What I write is done to honor the Lord and to touch the lives of those who know Him as well as those who should.
