WINTER WARMTH

WINTER  WARMTH

Lord, your warmth covers us from the chills of this life,

When cold winds blow

Snow moves across an open field

Onto a darkened highway

Ice thickening

Snow compacting,

Cold hands grip the steering wheel

Face grim, eyes intensely focused,

Body tensed.

Another long drive to the farm

After fighting winter cold and snow

Now the rhythm of returning home

Warm old house, warm family

Wood stove to fire up

Wood already gathered in large piles.

Angels carry heated cups of encouragement

The Spirit of the Lord pours out fresh confidence

Even peace when there should be none

Protective warmth of love carries along

Until the car is parked

And feet trudge the long boardwalk again.

Ah!  Such a place of comfort and goodness

Where true love dwells,

Infectious embraces and smiles and the laughter of children

Fill the heart once more

Satisfaction blankets the family,

Prayers and thanksgiving offered once more.

About Gary Bertnick

I was a Minnesota teenager in the late 1960's. I was drafted into the military after an intense time at an engineering school. As a graduate chemical engineer and former athlete, I became a Marine Corps private. The Lord spoke to me through a friend while visiting Rapid City,S.D. My true discipleship began in Southern California and was boosted through association with Morris Cerullo Ministry and others. I fed upon the Scriptures and have learned to be led by the Holy Spirit. I know what the fear of the Lord is. What I write is done to honor the Lord and to touch the lives of those who know Him as well as those who should.
