High up a Sedona mountain of mostly red rock

Sounds from a distant cleft

The echo of a dove carries far

Magnified by the “fortress walls” about

Soothing and comforting

Comforting and soothing even more,

Moments that calm

Moments of peacefulness.

Then, a monarch butterfly nearby

Rides the wind

Along it glides

Right up into a tall juniper tree,

Yellow and black flutters about

In a simple and easy flow

Simple and easy movements.

A walk along a quiet trail

High desert landscapes

So dramatic in stillness

A quiet that seems to draw

A quiet that thrills

A quiet that stirs the soul

Hushes the mind.

Eyes drink in raw beauty

A good pleasure settles within

The days are becoming better

A wealth better than silver

Richness better than gold

Deeper appreciation for what our Creator has made,

Thanksgiving rises up from the spirit.

“Our God who holds our breath in His hands.”- Prophet Daniel

About Gary Bertnick

I was a Minnesota teenager in the late 1960's. I was drafted into the military after an intense time at an engineering school. As a graduate chemical engineer and former athlete, I became a Marine Corps private. The Lord spoke to me through a friend while visiting Rapid City,S.D. My true discipleship began in Southern California and was boosted through association with Morris Cerullo Ministry and others. I fed upon the Scriptures and have learned to be led by the Holy Spirit. I know what the fear of the Lord is. What I write is done to honor the Lord and to touch the lives of those who know Him as well as those who should.
